Drugstore Makeup Must Have's

When it comes to beauty products I will try just about anything!  I am a marketers dream and a brand's worst nightmare because I am not always brand loyal.  There are very few things that I actually stick with when it comes to my beauty routine so making a switch is normally pretty easy, the only catch is I can sometimes be a makeup snob and only use high-end brands, for some reason in my head I feel like only prestige brands can work for me.

So a little over a week ago I met my good friend for an event.  My day was going terribly (pretty sure you'll all get to see that play out in a few months...if you know what I mean ;)) and I just needed a mambo taxi and some girl time.  Well, a few taxis and some taco cabana later I am making it back home at 2 in the morning on a school night!  And naturally, I left my full bag of trusted makeup at her house, every holy grail product I love is still sitting in her apartment as we speak!

Let me start off by saying when you have to pick from your sample drawer of discarded foundations you are going to look rough!  Especially after a few cocktails.  When it came time for my lunch break I booked it to Target to find something to help me not look a hot mess (think second-day hair, a foundation that isn't the right color and no eyeliner).  I knew I wouldn't be able to get back to my girlfriends place so I had to get a temporary kit (that wouldn't break the bank) to last me a few days because Y'all I work in the beauty industry I cant be looking like I have never used a makeup brush before!

As I walked the glorious isles of Target I finally settled on a few products that I thought fit the bill.

What I was looking for:
- Stay all day full coverage foundation
-mascara
-eyeliner
-blush
-concealer
-contour
-highlighter
-setting powder

I spent a little under $60.00 to replace my entire makeup kit (minus eyeshadow and lipsticks- I could open a store with my current collections).  So what did I get?

Foundation: Wet n' Wild photofocus foundation in Golden Beige ($4.69)
Powder: L'Oreal Infallible pro-matte in the color Nude Beige (9.99, was on sale for 20% off)
Eyeliner: Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer in Black (4.39) I use this normally it's one of my holy grails.
Concealer:  Maybelline age rewind in the color light ($7.89)
Setting Powder: NYX HD finishing powder in Banana ($9.99)
Contour kit: wet n' wild contour kit in Dulce De Leche ($4.99)
Blush: wet n' wild coloricon blush in pearlescent pint ($2.99)
Highlighter: Elf Highlighter in apricot glow ($4.00)
Brow pencil: wet n' wild Ultimate Brow retractable brow pencil in medium brown ($2.99)
Mascara: Maybelline total temptation mascara in blackest black ($7.89)

Now for my review from using the products a week consistently.

Foundation: LOVE it!  For the price it is amazing.  It stays on all day for the most part.  Since I am oily in my T-zone I do notice that I need to powder my nose to keep it from wiping off by about 4 in the afternoon.  I would definitely repurchase.
Powder: Love!  Such a nice powder that helps keep my oil at bay.  I wish it was a little bit less expensive, but I think it will last a while so I can't complain too much.  Would repurchase.
Eyeliner: Total yes, I have used this product for almost 10 years so I will continue to buy.
Concealer: well not loving, which is funny because about a year ago this was my go to.  Unfortunately, I am committed to the Tarte shape tape concealer and cannot imagine using anything else!  I will not be rebuying, in fact, I bought a new shapetape just the other day!
Setting powder: this is another product I use daily, I always buy it when Ulta has it on sale for buy 1 get 1 50% off.  I will totally repurchase!
Contour Kit: I don't hate it but I also don't love it.  For the price of 5.00, it totally did the trick, but I would rather use my Lorac kit instead.  I will not be rebuying.
Blush: This was a good buy, not loving that it isn't super pigmented but I like the glow that it gives me and that you can build the color.  I would repurchase this, especially at the price!
Highlighter: I love the color of this but the payout is lacking.  I feel like I have to apply a ton to my cheeks to see any shimmer.  I probably wouldn't rebuy especially since wet n wild makes some gorgeous highlighters for around the same price!
Brow pencil: so this might be my favorite thing I tried.  It reminds me of the ABH brow pencil I currently use but I could buy like 5 of these for the price of 1 of the ABH.  It is a total repurchase and will be replacing my current brow pencil!
Mascara: So I am fickle with mascara I try just about anything and everything.  But to be honest I really like this mascara for daily use.  I would rebuy for sure but would probably only wear it for work, I need a little more drama for nighttime.

I am thinking of doing more makeup posts so let me know if you have anything you are interested in or if there are any products you think I must try!!
