Summer Dress styled 2 ways: Part 1

Tuesday, August 29, 2017

Sorry I missed posting yesterday, my weekend was a whirlwind and I had a huge event I had to attend for work that took up most of my time!  So a day late here is a new outfit post.
If you are anything like me than you probably want to get the most out of your closet.  I sometimes hate buying season specific items because it can be hard to get the most milage out of that particular garment.  One of the ways I get around this is by mixing and matching different staples in my closet with seasonal items to try and give my outfit new life.

Todays post is all about getting the most life out of your closet, it will be a two part post so make sure you follow along.  For this challenge I picked out a very feminine lace dress that screams spring and summer.  I added summery accessories in the form of a bamboo bag, wedges with a whimsical cactus print, and a chunky turquoise necklace!

This look is perfect for the office or for a fun Saturday night.  I actually wore this look to dinner a few weekends ago and it was a huge hit!  If your office is a little more strict when it comes to the dress code I do have a few simple additions to make this dress appropriate.  For starters try adding a nude slip underneath to prevent your skin from showing through at the waist.  I do this all the time and it just looks like there is a nude underlining.  You could even wear the high waisted Spanx and it would look the same (if you choose a nude color).  If bare shoulders are a no go, try adding a denim jacket or light weight cardigan.  You could even swap the open toed wedges for a pointed toe heel or cute flat!

On Wednesday I will be styling this dress for fall, and giving it a little bit of edge!  So stay tuned.
